The scope in which the organization conducts its activities effectively allocating resources, engaging with stakeholders, and implements its charitable initiatives can be segregated in some aspects & focused areas, widely depending on the goals & mission of the organization. Here are the key focused areas to consider:
Our project area covers a huge area of 3 blocks viz. Kolaghat, Panskura and Tamluk under Purba Medinipur district in West Bengal, comprising more than 400 small villages in the district. The area is connected by NH-6 (Bombay Road) and Mecheda railway station on South-Eastern Railway. Main Head Office (admin) our organisation is about 80 km away from Kolkata. The Geographical nature of the project area is plain land and the soil of this area is alluvial. The rain sets in this area from June to September. The area is flood prone. Agriculture, especially floriculture is the main source of income of the local people who are directly and indirectly dependent on floriculture round the year.
Gender inequality is the common feature here. Child labour is prevalent in the community. Having high density of the population, the block is already over populated. Most of the people belong to the poor category. The entire population comprises of 20% medium size farmers, 45% small or marginal farmers and 35% landless labourers. The majority marginal farmers and landless labourers fight for existence as daily wage labourers. They generally belong to the scheduled caste and backward communities. Naturally our philanthropic efforts evolve around specific issues or causes, such as education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, housing, environmental conservation, human rights, women & child safety and more. Our team work on holistic community development, addressing a range of interconnected issues within that the downtrodden community.
Our well trained volunteers are always ready to render services towards any kind of emergencies, such as natural disasters, conflicts, or public health crises. Currently the giant thermal power project, 'Kolaghat Thermal Power Plant' is situated nearby and adding to the multidimensional problems the local physical environment has been polluted severely by the ash and coal dust released by this mega plant. Since years, a team comprising local people is engaged in creating public attention in this regard − showing organized meeting with the plant management, organizing on-road silent procession and demonstrating protest from time to time.
Literacy rate is extremely low in our working area. Communication system inside the villages is very much underdeveloped. The health care service is miserable and access to health support system is far below the minimum required level. Poverty remained acute for generations and people fail to break this vicious cycle of poverty. Therefore our prime activities are as stated below:
Education − educational opportunities for kids (dedicated primary school), scholarships for meritorious students, cultural sessions & activities for kids every year.
Healthcare − initiatives include supporting healthcare facilities, specialised ophthalmic treatment for poor, various medical charitable offers & assistance in emergency period (like COVID), addressing all health challenges.
Skill Development − free tailoring training for direct income generation.
Social Welfare − extending various social welfare schemes for housing, micro-loan facilities, farming, food security etc.
